WHAT WE DO
Our focus is on empowering small-scale farmers to become commercial farmers, enabling them to partner successfully with the market. This can be through an out-grower arrangement where farming communities are linked to commercial agricultural companies introducing a new crop, or the commercialisation of existing agricultural activities by creating new market linkages.
RMI stands for Risk Management for Investors, which is central to our offering.
Opportunities for Investment in agriculture in Africa is much talked about, but holds risks for all involved:
RMI helps investors in agri-businesses and farming communities to identify and manage the risks of doing business together.
Many agricultural schemes in Africa fail because of conflicts over land and water and because investors, communities and governments failed to give attention to creating the required physical, social and business conditions for successful development. This include understanding the circumstances and needs of the different parties to the business arrangement, the risks for each party in doing business together the collective measure required to mitigate these risks.
We use a unique 3D Development approach in analysing the context for investment initiatives and then identifying and managing the risks when embarking on a business undertaking. Our 3D approach requires us to look at the physical/environmental, human/social and business/financial dimensions of development projects and to ensure that all three faces of this “development cube” are attended to in a balanced way when growing business.

We never thought about a company. Now we own one. We negotiated a bank loan that we used to build a modern irrigated farm. Our yields have been over 105T/ha for the last five years!
